Dr. David Bresler Will Teach Ten New "Hands-On" Guided Imagery Workshops in LA Starting in February, 2012.

The Academy is pleased to announce that a series of ten new "hands-on" workshops will be taught by Dr. David Bresler, starting on February 24-25, 2012. This is a unique opportunity to learn advanced Interactive Guided Imagerysm techniques from one of the originators of this powerful mind/body approach.

These one day programs will focus on utilizing guided imagery for treating stress, anxiety disorders, acute and chronic pain, depression, smoking, weight control problems, trauma and PTSD. Two workshops will also focus on enhancing creativity and taming the Inner Critic, based largely on the imagery techniques Dr. Bresler developed during the five years he worked with the creative staff at Walt Disney Imagineering.

These workshops will be held every three to four weeks on Fridays and Saturdays at the
Bresler Center in West Los Angeles. Participants must have completed at least the Fundamentals of Interactive Guided Imagerysm (FIGI) course offered through the Academy as a pre-requisite for enrolling in these advanced programs. If you are interested in attending, register quickly for each of the workshops will be limited to ten students and we expect them to fill quickly.

Dr. Marty Rossman Will Teach in Italy "The Healing Mind: The Art & Science of Mind-Body Medicine" in September, 2012

During this five day workshop with Dr. Marty Rossman, you will be able to explain the physiology of stress and relaxation to your patients in a simple effective way and utilize guided imagery for relaxation, stress reduction, stimulating healing and improving mind/body communication. You will use your imagination to reduce rather than create worry and anxiety, and create a practical plan for reducing stress in your daily life when you return home from Italy.

Participants will meet from 9 AM to 1:15 PM to consider the unique nature of modern human stress, the role of imagination in creating and relieving stress, and we will experientially explore deep relaxation, insight, and healing approaches that can help both you and those you care for live a better, healthier, and more enjoyable life.

Immersing ourselves in a beautiful and timeless Italian environment, we will cultivate a perspective that honors relaxation, renewal, and enjoyment along with responsibility and service.

What Every Health Professional Should Know About Guided Imagery

The Academy will soon provide our website visitors with an online library of important guided imagery articles that have been written by members of the Academy's faculty and staff. When our new website is online (see notice below), you will be able to read them online or download them for distribution to your patients, clients, colleagues, and referral sources.

In the meantime, our first offering is "What Every Health Professional Should Know About Guided Imagery," an article written by Dr. David Bresler that was first published as "What Every Pain Therapist Should Know About Guided Imagery" in the journal
Professional Pain Management in September, 2005. To read or download a copy, click here.

Many more articles will be posted over the next year, so check back periodically.

New AGI Web Site to Open in Early 2012

After more than a year of development, the Academy will be moving its website to a new host server early in 2012. While it's taken considerably longer than any of us imagined (don't most things?), our new site will accommodate many of the advanced functions we've long wanted to offer.

This includes many new live and online training courses, blogs, discussion groups, and the ability to read and download full text imagery-related articles written by Academy faculty members. We also look forward to the re-opening of the online Imagery Store where you will be able to purchase and download books, CDs, DVDs, mp3s, and other imagery-related resources.

If you'd like us to notify you when the new site is operational,
